KUCHING: Sarawak’s young cricket talent Mohammad Hariz Afnan Sulhie has earned a national call-up for the ACC Men’s U19 Premier Cup 2025 in Ajman, United Arab Emirates.
This tournament also serves as the Asia Cup U19 Qualifier, featuring the best emerging talents from across the continent.
Sarawak Cricket Association vice president Victor Graman expressed the association’s deepest pride and congratulations to Hariz.
“On behalf of the Sarawak Cricket Association, I wish Hariz Afnan all the very best as he represents Malaysia once again at the international level.
“His journey from Padang Merdeka and Padang Tassuda to the global stage is a true inspiration,” he told Sarawak Tribune today (Nov 15).
Victor added that he hopes this achievement ignites the spirit of excellence among more Sarawakian youths to dream big, work hard, and contribute to the nation through cricket.
No stranger to the national setup, Hariz was also a member of the Malaysia U19 squad in 2023.
Hariz first made headlines in 2014 as the youngest player to participate in the prestigious Tun Ahmad Sarji Cup held at Padang Merdeka, Kuching. His continued selection reflects his consistent development and unwavering commitment to the sport.
At Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024, Hariz led the Sarawak cricket team as captain, guiding the team to a silver medal finish — a remarkable achievement that further showcased his leadership and talent.
Today, Hariz is also a regular in the Sarawak Senior Cricket Team, proving his value not only at the youth level but also in senior-level competition.
Since 2019, Hariz has been under the mentorship of Coach Chew Pok Cheong and Coach Pramuka, both of whom have played pivotal roles in refining his skills and building his character as a cricketer.
