BINTULU: The district narcotics police during a Wednesday morning raid rounded up 18 local men suspected of abusing drugs.
The “Ops Sarang” raid was carried out at Bintulu old bazaar (Pasar Lama Bintulu) around 10am, said Bintulu police chief, Supt Zulkipli Suhaili.
He said all suspects aged 19 to 45 have been detained for questioning and their cases would be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which deals with drug abuse.
The law provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or two years’ imprisonment upon conviction.
“All the suspects were tested positive for drugs,” said Zulkipli.
