KUCHING: The upcoming Depo Nursery Open Day @ DBKU will feature gardening-related sales, exhibitions and community activities scheduled on July 4 its nursery area Jalan Depo, Petra Jaya.
The event, organise by Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) will run from 7.30 am to 5 pm, offering a range of programmes aimed at promoting gardening culture, encouraging green and sustainable landscapes, and raising awareness on plant management and environmental care.
Members of the public are invited to attend and take part in the programme, which also serves as a platform for plant enthusiasts, landscape entrepreneurs and residents to obtain various gardening and landscaping essentials at affordable prices.
Additionally, visitors will also be able to take part in knowledge-sharing sessions and demonstrations by experts and relevant agencies.
Among the highlights are plant care tips, sustainable methods of managing organic waste into compost fertiliser, and sharing sessions on the uniqueness, benefits and potential of bamboo plants.
A series of activities has also been lined up throughout the programme, including floral arrangement and bonsai decoration competitions, sand art, T-shirt painting and colouring competitions, as well as sales of gardening tools and supplies.
Other activities include a bamboo plant briefing and demonstration by the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), a bonsai management briefing by Kejiranan Mesra (KJM), a compost production briefing by the DBKU Health and Environment Division, and a plant management demonstration by the DBKU Landscape Division.
