KUCHING: Police have issued a total of 62 compounds to individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today (Aug 31), said Kuching recorded the most with 59 compounds issued, followed by one compound each issued in Kota Samarahan, Betong and Sarikei.

The committee said the police would continue to tighten the SOPs including the use of face masks and social distancing in public places.

It added 1,746 premises were monitored for SOP compliance.

These included 224 supermarkets, restaurants (360), banks (116), government offices (50), hawker stalls (67), public markets (93), places of workshop (78), leisure places (38), construction sites (17), factories (seven) and others (696).

The committee also revealed that 1,018 vehicles were inspected in five “Ops Benteng” roadblocks in five districts — two in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.
