BINTANGOR: There is light at last for the people of Rumah Panjang Nyandang, Sungai Rayah here after the completion of rewiring work for the electricity supply in their longhouse.
The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) said in a news report today that the RM90,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project was under Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing. The Public Works Department (PWD) Sarikei Division was the implementing agency.
Recently, Ding visited the longhouse and was very happy to note that work to upgrade the 26-door longhouse had been completed, thus ensuring the safety of the residents from short circuits.
“The implementation of the RTP projects is carried out in stages and according to the funds that have been approved through the Sarawak government each year. Contractors will be appointed through implementing agencies by drawing of votes,” he said.
Ding assured that implementation of the RTP projects would continue every year under the Sarawak government led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
