Body of missing septuagenarian found

SERIAN: The body of a 73-year-old man reported missing in Kampung Taie, Jalan Baki-Riih on Mar 9, was found in an oil palm plantation yesterday.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim identified as Nipol Rantai, was discovered some 4km from his house.

The victim’s family confirmed that the person was indeed their missing family member based on the clothes he wore.

Firemen from Serian station had received a report from Serian police regarding the discovery of the body by plantation workers.

The team retrieved the body and handed it over to the police to be taken to Serian Hospital.

On Mar 9, Nipol was found to be not at home at 10 am and his family feared that he had gone missing.

Rescue agencies were promptly alerted for further search assistance. However, after five days of searching, they called off the operation as no clues were found.
