SARIKEI: Political upheaval in the country, the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic decline since 2018 have been among the challenges the Sarawak government has had to face in its efforts to continue developing the state.
Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Deputy Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said an orderly development plan would however ensure no area in Sarawak is left behind in the current wave of development.
Having said this, Len, who is Kuala Rajang assemblyman, admitted that there are still many basic facilities that must be put in place such as clean water supply and proper roads from Sarikei to Bukit Kinyau.
According to him, the implementation of all these development could not be carried out in a hurry as it involved high costs apart from the economic situation which has not yet fully recovered.
“The people just need to be patient because all this will be implemented in stages,” he said at the Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri held at Kampung Bukit Kinyau, recently.
Also present was Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab.
Meanwhile, Yusuf was glad the jetty project worth RM700,000 had been completed and could be used by the residents of Bukit Kinyau.
He said the residents now could use a larger, longer and safer jetty even in rough water conditions.
Yusuf said he would also bring up the RM90 million Sarikei/Bukit Kinyau road project which was approved by the previous federal government but that after the formation of the new government, the status of the allocation is yet to be known.
Kampung Bukit Kinyau is the first destination of the Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri which were attended by both Len and Yusuf in the Kuala Rajang constituency.
Len and Yusuf then continued their series of Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri held at the Kampung Rajang community hall where Len said that two development projects involving Kampung Rajang, namely the Waterfront Project worth RM10 million have been approved.
Meanwhile, the road project from Kampung Paloh to Kampung Stalun and to Sungai Bapa in Rajang will be included in the development plan of the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) worth RM100 million.
