THE Youth Entrepreneur Setup (YES) programme aims to develop and empower the youth economy in Sarawak as a whole.
Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Deputy Minister Dr Ripin Lamat said the programme was implemented in collaboration with government agencies, district offices, the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), and the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED).
He said the filling of the YES programme is a partnership session with the agency that grants business licences and also provides incubator premises to facilitate the youth to register business companies.
Other than that, it also shares the aid schemes for youth entrepreneurs provided by the ministry and statutory bodies, and financial institutions.
“Through the YES programme as well, we collect information and data about tendencies, interests, areas or sectors of entrepreneurship that the youth are interested in.
“We hear the aspirations of the youth towards the ministry and the government, especially those aimed at entrepreneurship,” he said in response to a question from Kalaka Assemblyman Mohamad Duri during question time today.
In addition, he said the MYSED also provides a Sarawak Youth Creative Industry Fund (SYCIF) assistance scheme to help young people engage in creative activities.
“Furthermore, MINTRED also has various schemes to help the youth,” he added.
