BINTULU: A driver died on the spot in an accident along Jalan Pesisir Bintulu-Samalaju yesterday (Aug 1).
The accident, involving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a road marking lorry, happened around 4.20 pm.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Samalaju station were promptly despatched to the scene near the Suburmas plantation field.
Upon arrival, the team found the victim identified as, Kooh Boon Chuan, 23, pinned in his seat and firemen had to use special tools to extricate him.
Paramedics at the scene confirmed the death of the victim.
His body was later taken to the hospital for a post-mortem.
