Vietnamese woman fined for prostitution activities

KUCHING: A Vietnamese woman was fined RM3,500 in default four months jail by the Magistrate’s Court here, today (Oct 30), for soliciting sex services at a reflexology massage centre in the city.

Coa Thi Hoai, 41, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 372B of the Penal Code before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.

She committed the offence at a reflexology massage centre in Jalan Petanak, at about 11.10am, on Oct 17.

According to the facts of the case, a police team conducted an operation, codenamed ‘Op Noda’ against suspected prostitution activities, which led to the arrest of the accused.

Several items were confiscated during the operation, including a closed circuit television (CCTV), recorders, calculator, employee assignment notebooks and a business license.

Further investigations found that the accused had engaged in prostitution activities.

Inspector Ammarsoffi Yusoff prosecuted the case while the accused was not represented by legal counsel.
