KUCHING: PERKIM Sarawak will hold its 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) here from April 19 to 21.

The event usually takes place in Kuching but is occasionally rotated to other locations such as Sibu, Miri, Bintulu, Mukah and Lawas.

“The theme for this year’s AGM is ‘Sustainable Development Goals from an Islamic Perspective’.

“This theme aims to educate PERKIM members and the public about sustainable development concepts and goals, emphasising the importance of implementing sustainable development practices,” PERKIM Sarawak said.

Aligned with this theme, PERKIM Sarawak will organise a seminar and forum titled “Sustainable Development Goals” on April 20.

“The seminar will feature presentations by various speakers, including PERKIM officials and representatives from government agencies, discussing the significance and implementation of sustainable development goals.

“There will also be opportunities for members to set up stalls to promote their products, including food items and handicrafts.”

In 2023, a new branch was added in Pusa, bringing the total number of PERKIM branches in Sarawak to 22.

The AGM will be attended by 139 branch representatives, 44 observers, and 18 members of the PERKIM Sarawak Division Committee.

PERKIM is one of the largest Islamic non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Sarawak, focusing on welfare, education and religious activities for Muslim women.

PERKIM will continue collaborating with other NGOs to expand its activities effectively throughout Sarawak.
