SIBU: The STEM Trailblazers Sarawak 2024 will be held on July 12 and 13, says Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

Sagah said that his ministry appointed University Technology of Sarawak (UTS), Curtin University Malaysia, and Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus as the implementers at their respective venue.

“The highlight of STEM Trailblazers 2024 is it will be organised simultaneously across these three prestigious institutions, ensuring the students from the northern, central and southern part of Sarawak have the opportunity to participate in this yearly event.

“We expect more than 4,000 students and teachers from across the state to participate in workshops, competitions, interactive exhibitions, demonstrations and exciting science shows,” he said in a press conference at UTS here on today (June 10).

Sagah also said that the goals of STEM Trailblazers 2024 are to ignite a passion for STEM among young people, provide ample opportunities for learning and innovation through hands-on activities and exhibits, and equip students with essential skills for the future, such as problem-solving and teamwork.

“This event also aims to promote sustainable innovations, recognize the talents and achievements in STEM, and foster a vibrant community of students, educators, industry professionals, and the public who are passionate about STEM and innovation.”

Each venue will offer a unique mix of activities designed to inspire, educate, and challenge young minds and his ministry strategic partner, Pusat Sains Negara, will be joining, allowing students to see how science can be fun and engaging beyond the traditional classroom setting.

“STEM Trailblazers 2024 is more than just a competition; it is a platform designed to ignite a lifelong passion for STEM in our youth. We are confident that this event will empower the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers who will shape the future of Sarawak.
