MIRI: Police have smashed an online gambling syndicate with the arrest of six locals last week.
Miri police chef ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspects were arrested during an ‘Op Dadu’ raid at Jalan Jee Foh Krokop on June 7.
The suspects aged between 19 and 28, were taken into custody by the district’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
“Further inspections on the house led to the confiscation of six computers and other equipment used to conduct the gambling activity.
“The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(g) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 for promoting illegal online gambling,” he said.
Alexson advised the public not to get themselves involved in any form of illegal gambling activities.
