MIRI: The Globesync Community Research and Sustainability Conference (GlobeCoReS 2024) commenced today at Curtin University Sarawak, inaugurating a two-day event devoted to nurturing partnerships and propelling sustainable development.
Throughout the conference, several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) will be signed between various universities and industries, emphasizing the significance of collaboration in attaining global sustainability goals.
Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Minister of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development, who presided over the event, underscored the importance of these partnerships in her address.
“These partnerships are vital for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals as they promote innovation, resource sharing, and collaborative solutions to global challenges. By working together, we can expedite progress towards a more sustainable and just future for all,” she expressed.
GlobeCoReS 2024 provides a platform for experts worldwide to converge, exchange ideas, and formulate strategies that will steer sustainable development.
Datuk Seri Fatimah stressed that the event signifies a profound dedication to tackling global disparities and serves as a rallying cry for integrating efforts across disciplines, sectors, and borders.
“Today is a testament to our dedication to addressing the root causes of global disparities. It is a clarion call to amalgamate our endeavours across disciplines, sectors, and borders to craft holistic solutions that pave the path for future generations,” she remarked.
The minister also highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration, recognizing that today’s intricate challenges necessitate the collective efforts of policymakers, researchers, and community leaders.
“In our interconnected world, the solutions to pressing issues reside at the crossroads of various fields,” she added, emphasizing the conference’s role in uniting diverse expertise to devise impactful solutions.
The conference, drawing over 1,000 delegates from 36 countries, with 400 in-person attendees, is a testament to the global dedication to sustainable development.
