BALINGIAN: Five redevelopment structures for the ailing Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Badengan are currently pending approval from the ‘Board of Survey,’ as disclosed by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development of Sarawak, Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo.
These structures include the administration block, classrooms, dining hall, dormitory, and quarters.
“The contract commenced in May but was halted last month awaiting approval from the necessary authorities.
Upon receiving approval, the paused contract will resume for the five essential facilities,” he stated during an encounter with reporters at the proposed site for the school’s redevelopment.
Aidel further mentioned that while the buildings are set for demolition, the awaited approvals from authorities are still pending.
The RM11.658 million contract is poised for action pending approval, with construction set to commence once the green light is given.
Delays in the approval process have been acknowledged, and Aidel expressed hope for decentralizing authority to expedite such crucial decisions, suggesting a role for the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS).
Accompanying the discussion was Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee and Balingian State Assemblyman (ADUN) Abdul Yakub Arbi.
