KUCHING: A total of 124 students participated in the Majlis Khatam Al-Quran Perdana 2024 held at the Kampung Malaysia Jaya Multipurpose Hall here on Saturday.
Among the 124 students, 54 successfully completed the recitation of all 30 juzuk of the Quran.
Headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan Rancangan Perumahan Rakyat (RPR) Jalan Astana, Jesi Jamri, stated that the Majlis Khatam Perdana Al-Quran is a core component of the j-QAF programme.
“This event serves as the culmination and conclusion of the j-QAF programme every year. It was made mandatory by the Ministry of Education Malaysia in 2010,” he said during his opening speech at the Majlis Khatam Perdana Al-Quran on Saturday (December 14).
He added that all schools with j-QAF students are required to hold a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony to celebrate Year 6 students who have been part of the j-QAF programme throughout their six years in primary school.
“This event aims to implement and successfully execute the Majlis Khatam Al-Quran for SK RPR in 2024,” he explained.
Assistant director of the Islamic Education Planning and Development Unit, Islamic Education Sector, Sarawak State Education Department, Hamilan Sani, noted that the programme is intended to instil a sense of responsibility and love for the Quran among Muslim students at SK RPR Jalan Astana.
“In addition to celebrating the achievements of Year 6 students who have been involved in the j-QAF programme since Year 1, such programmes also improve the quality of Quranic recitation among students,” he said.
Also present at the event were the Parent-Teacher Association (YDP PIBG) chairman, Mohammad Noor Alhafizh Pauzi, and the village chief of Kampung Malaysia Jaya, Marzuki Hamdan.
