BELAGA: The selection of a leader within any political party is pivotal to ensuring unity and preventing division.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Senior Vice President Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom stressed that an organisation cannot sustain two leaders without risking fragmentation.

“If we look at areas that are weak, the problem often lies in leadership, whether at the branch or grassroots levels.

“If we observe villages or longhouses that are progressive, their leadership is clearly capable, whereas in those that are disorganised, the leadership tends to have issues in terms of management and other aspects,” he said.

He said this during the PBB Annual Delegates Meeting Belaga Branch at the Belaga Community Hall on Monday.

The Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Minister added that PBB must always be cautious to maintain solidarity with its partners in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

He explained that PBB must learn to either accept or not accept the opinions of its partners because, as a large party, it is impossible to accept 100 percent of all ideas and suggestions.

“When the majority agrees that an idea is good, we need to comply and follow through to ensure our party does not fall into disarray.

“This advice is not only for PBB but also for other component partners within GPS,” he said.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang, PBB Belaga branch chief Lesly Luyoh Akah, and other distinguished guests.
