KUCHING: A total of 67 recipients were granted a total allocation of RM282,000 for educational and welfare programmes during a ceremony held at the Pantai Damai Service Centre on Tuesday.

They included Rukun Tetangga Areas (KRT), associations, agencies, and educational institutions in the Pantai Damai constituency.

The event was officiated by Deputy Minister of Telecommunication and Utility, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

“This financial assistance reflects our commitment to empowering non- government organisations (NGOs), entrepreneurship centres and educational institutions that play a crucial role in community development,” he said.

Dr Abdul Rahman highlighted the significance of public participation in the development of the state, particularly in education and entrepreneurship.

“We aim to encourage greater involvement from the younger generation in these initiatives. By doing so, they can better understand and appreciate the importance of leadership in shaping Sarawak’s future,” he added.

The funding provided will be used to support various community-based programmes, including skill development workshops, educational initiatives, and welfare activities to enhance the quality of life for local residents.

“The state government remains committed to working closely with local organisations to ensure effective implementation of these programmes,”he said.
