SERIAN: A total of 200 flood victims in this district received disaster relief assistance amounting to RM60,000 from Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (YaPEIM) through the Ziarah Madani YaPEIM programme.

The aid, consisting of RM200 in cash and a Foodbank set worth RM100 per recipient, was handed over by the chairman of YaPEIM’s Board of Trustees, Abdul Khudus Mohd Naaim, at Dewan Kampung Hulu Serian yesterday (Feb 11).

“This is the first flood relief distribution since the disaster began affecting Sarawak last week,” said YaPEIM through a press statement yesterday (Feb 11).

Apart from Serian, other affected districts include Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Samarahan, and Mukah. YaPEIM is currently identifying more locations in Sarawak that require assistance.

In 2024 alone, YaPEIM has distributed nearly RM400,000 in aid, benefiting over 6,000 recipients in Sarawak.

“Since its establishment in 1985 until 2024, YaPEIM has disbursed approximately RM710 million, reaching nearly 10 million beneficiaries nationwide,” it said.
