SIBU: Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee has urged senior citizens to undergo health screenings to monitor their well-being.
The Nangka assemblyman said the Sarawak government provides a special scheme for senior citizens known as the Senior Citizens Health Benefit Scheme.
“This is an initiative by the Sarawak government to provide cashless outpatient treatment at Panel Clinics, with a maximum limit of RM500 per person per year,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters during a house-to-house visit in conjunction with the Ketuk Sahur Programme at Kampung Pa’ Dris today (Mar 8).
During his visit, Dr Annuar noted that some senior citizens were unwell and stressed the importance of regular health check-ups.
“The eligibility requirements include being a Malaysian citizen with an identity card bearing the ‘K’ status, aged 60 and above, and having a household income of RM7,000 or less per month.
“Another requirement is that the applicant must not be receiving outpatient treatment financing or coverage from any other agency,” he added.
