MUKAH: The Batang Igan Bridge project, valued at RM285 million, has achieved 82 per cent completion, and is on track for full delivery by December 2025.

Spanning 1.4 kilometres across Batang Igan, the bridge is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and access to rural areas once completed.

During a site inspection today, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas expressed satisfaction with the project’s progress and the contractor’s performance.

“We are very happy with the progress so far. With 82 per cent completion, there is only 18 per cent left to go,” he said when speaking to reporters.

Uggah also highlighted the importance of keeping the construction pace steady in order to meet the state’s development timeline.

“We have told the contractor, every month they must complete at least three per cent.

“With that target and timeline in mind, we are confident that this project will be completed on schedule,” he added.

He stressed the significance of regular monitoring visits as a proactive measure to keep projects on course.

“We are actively going to the ground to make sure all our projects are implemented on schedule.

“We want to identify problems before they become major setbacks,” Uggah said.

So far, the bridge project has been reported to have minimal issues, and continues to move forward according to plan.
