BETONG: The government is planning to establish the Betong Health Hub as part of efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle among the local community.

The proposal was presented by officers from the Sarawak Health Department (JKNS) during a meeting with Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, at the Betong Divisional Resident’s Office on Monday (April 28).

Among those involved were JKNS senior assistant director (development) Amirul Izwan Ainie and senior assistant director (health promotion) Lilis Suriani Razali.

They stressed that the health hub would provide a range of health services focused on prevention and the promotion of healthy living.

“The Betong Health Hub will become a central point for the community to access a wide range of preventive health services and lifestyle guidance, ultimately encouraging behavioural change toward better health among the people of Betong.”

JKNS hopes the hub will become a vital platform in shifting the public mindset from illness care to health care.
Earlier, Rentap, who is also the Layar assemblyman, chaired a discussion on the proposed construction of an additional block and upgrade works at the Mid Layar, Spak, Betong Health Clinic (Klinik Kesihatan).

Also present were Betong Division Development Agency special administrative officer Abang Mohamed Abang Turkey, JKNS Public Health Development Branch head Dr Hamidi Mohamad Sharkawi and Betong Division health officer Dr Mohamad Norhaizam Ahmad@Narawi.
