KUCHING: Teachers across the country were presented with six major incentives, a welcome piece of good news for the education community.

Education Minister, Fadhlina Sidek, announced the initiatives during the 54th National Teacher’s Day celebration held at the Borneo Convention Centre (BCCK) today.

Among the key announcements was the approval for teachers to apply for transfers after completing just two years of service, with no additional conditions attached.

This year, the Ministry of Education (MoE) will also assign 1,470 teaching assistants to selected schools nationwide.

Each qualifying school will receive two assistants, based on specific criteria set by the ministry.

In addition, 32 teachers, including recipients of the IKON Award, Innovative Teacher Award, Special Education Award and Distinguished Teacher Award, will be given the opportunity to teach at international schools in the United Kingdom under the fully sponsored Global Immersion For Future-Ready Teachers (GIFT) programme.

Under the fourth initiative, selected teachers and education officers will be sent abroad to attend short-term training courses in specialised fields to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Teachers will also enjoy a 20 per cent discount on flight tickets through the MH GoM portal to all destinations.

The sixth initiative involves a 20 to 30 per cent discount on online book purchases, which can be accessed using the official DELIMa KPM ID.
