SEE Chee How is not the kind of politician who walks into a room and takes over.

The Batu Lintang assemblyman is more the type to listen first, speak later, and when he does, it is usually with that trademark calm.
We caught up with him for a casual chat – about the Sarawak Legislative Assembly to about life on and off the political stage.
ST: If you could describe this sitting in one word so far, what would it be?
See: Important. The sitting is important because every decision is being made here, and hearing is being done by all constituencies as this is a legislative of all in Sarawak.
Do you carry any sentimental items in your bag or pocket during sitting?
I do not bring any sentimental valued items with me because most of the time, my bag is filled with all the materials for the sittings.
I must carry my bag around in case there are any additional books, logs or documents that are being given.
So, there is no space for other things for me to carry.
What are you most looking forward to during this sitting?

The thing that I look forward to is the new development on free tertiary education which is a vital topic to be discussed on, and also on the progress on the rights and privileges that we can take back through the development of the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
There are some projects in Sarawak that we requested for the respective area that needs updates on.
Like my area, it is very vital when it comes to flood mitigation, water supply, heavy traffic jam.
Those are the things that need to be addressed and look for solutions.
Are there any key issues that you are passionate about?
For me, personally I am looking at the constitution and how to ensure that we can keep up with new developments in all aspects of our governance.
It is to ensure that we can keep track (of issues) with others and doing a better job than others.
We are probably the best state assembly in the whole of Malaysia. Now, it is time for us to compete with all the others.
With Premier’s vision and all, I am sure that we can do better because that is what we are aiming for.
How do you unwind after a full day of speeches and debates?
This is only the third day, and only after one week, I can take all the rest that I want because only by that time, I am able to rest knowing what I had achieved.
