SABAL: Forest Department Sarawak (FDS), in partnership with Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) and the Department of Environment Sarawak (DOE), has planted 2,002 indigenous tree saplings at Sabal Forest Reserve as part of a continued joint forest restoration effort.

This initiative is one of SEB’s 10-Year Integrated Planting, Protection, and Habitat Conservation Campaign (2021-2030), supporting the Greening Sarawak Campaign led by FDS.

“The planting effort also contributes to the national Greening Malaysia Agenda through the 100 Million Tree-Planting Campaign (2021–2025),”said SEB through a press statement today.

Over 160 participants from FDS, SEB, DOE and local communities took part in the event.

High-value native species, including belian, meranti and selangan were planted to enhance biodiversity and support the long-term ecological health of the forest.

This ongoing partnership demonstrates the collective efforts of government, industry, and community stakeholders in preserving Sarawak’s natural heritage for future generations.

FDS highlighted the collaborative approach and reiterated the importance of partnerships in driving sustainability.

The event was also attended by DOE’s Director, John Rampai; SEB Senior Vice-President – Contract & Procurement, Yusri Safri; SEB Vice-President –
EQ HSSE, Marconi Madai, and Restoration and Industrial Forest Division Officer, Mostapha Kamal, representing FDS.
