MIRI: Firefighters from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station swiftly responded to an emergency call received at 3.01pm on Saturday following a fire outbreak at a local retail shop here.
The blaze, which involved a single air-conditioning unit, caused approximately 20 per cent damage to the building’s structure. The situation at the affected premises, a permanent-structure convenience shop, was already under control when the fire team arrived.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the shopowner had successfully extinguished the flames using a dry powder fire extinguisher before the team arrived on site.
Following a thorough assessment based on the RECEO (Rescue, Exposure, Confine, Extinguish, Overhaul) protocol, the operational commander and team conducted perimeter monitoring to ensure there was no remaining threat of reignition.
The cause of the incident and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
