KUCHING: The Malaysian Army’s Ninth Infantry Brigade put its combat mettle to the test in Exercise Satria Perkasa 2025, a high-stakes drill designed to measure the unit’s operational strength, leadership, and battlefield readiness.

Conducted over 14 days from Aug 11 to 24 across the challenging terrains of Betong, Lubok Antu, and Batang Ai, the exercise simulated real combat scenarios to assess the brigade’s performance in tactical operations, logistics, and administration.

Building on Exercise Satria Gagah, a command post drill held earlier this month, Satria Perkasa pushed the Ninth Infantry Brigade into full field training mode — stressing its ability to strike, sustain, and adapt under combat conditions.

The exercise also gauged the effectiveness of combat units and supporting elements under the First Infantry Division and Ninth Infantry Brigade.

The operation peaked with a coordinated brigade-level assault on a designated objective, executed after the Ninth Infantry Brigade Commander Brig Gen Jafri Sulaiman issued the final attack orders at the tactical headquarters.

Wrapping up the exercise, First Infantry Division Commander Maj Gen Datuk Khairul Anuar Abd Aziz said drills like these are vital benchmarks for the Army.

“This exercise acts as a thermometer to measure command climate, training standards, and the strengths and weaknesses of our units.

“It must be fully utilized to sharpen competencies, reinforce knowledge, and strengthen training and organisational management to maintain the Army’s credibility and readiness,” he said.

Also present at the closing ceremony were Third Infantry Brigade Commander Brig Gen Khairuddin Zakaria, and Regiment 511 Territorial Army Commander Brig Gen Abang Mohamad Abang Marzuki.
