Police seek help to identify body found near Kpg Bakam

MIRI: The police are appealing for public assistance to identify the body of a man discovered along the coastline leading to Kampung Bakam here.

Miri District Police chief, ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, said a report was lodged at the Tanjung Lobang Police Station regarding the discovery on Sunday.

“The man, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, was found without any identification documents. An assistant medical officer confirmed the man had died at the scene.

“Meanwhile, the body has been taken to the Forensic Department of Miri Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death,” he said in a statement today.

The case has been classified as sudden death.

Those with missing family members, information related to the incident, or who recognise the tattoo marks attached in the police notice are urged to contact Tanjung Lobang Police Station’s chief, Sgt Malina Kilat, at 011-12017034, the station at 085-437290, or the nearest police station.

The public has also been advised not to speculate on the incident out of respect for the victim’s family.
