KAPIT: Police arrested a local man for allegedly having suspected syabu in his possession by the roadside along Jalan Selirik.

The district’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) picked up the suspect after officers found him acting suspiciously on Sunday (Oct 12).

“A body search led to the discovery of five small plastic packets containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu, weighing about 3.2 grams.

“Urine test conducted on him returned positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” Kapit police said.

Background checks also found that the suspect had two prior records related to drug offences.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Meanwhile, Kapit police advised the public, especially youths, to stay away from drug abuse as it can lead to other criminal activities.
