JACINTHA : The youth wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is fully geared up for the next Sarawak state election, expected within 12 to 15 months, said its chief Datuk Martin Ben.
Martin said the wing is ready to take on a bigger role, including fielding Youth candidates if entrusted by the party leadership.
He said the looming election required high discipline, unity and strong commitment from young party members, especially in reaching grassroots communities and strengthening support for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
“PBB Youth must go down to the ground, engage the people and convince voters that the leadership of the Premier and the GPS government is the best choice for Sarawak’s future.
“If given the opportunity and trust by the party leadership, PBB Youth is ready and eager to offer candidates for the coming state election.
“We stand ready to go into battle with you, Sir (Premier),” he said during the PBB Youth Armada Appreciation Night, officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Sunday (Nov 23).
Martin emphasised that the youth wing is not merely a successor body but a core driver in ensuring political stability and continued growth in Sarawak.
He expressed confidence that with unity and discipline, PBB would secure strong victories.
Martin also stressed the responsibility of PBB Youth to help the people understand the state’s development roadmap and long-term vision towards 2030 and beyond.
Meanwhile, Martin said the event served two purposes, which is to raise funds for the movement’s programmes planned for the 2025–2027 term, and to honour former leaders who had laid a strong foundation for the movement and continued to contribute to the party and government.
He said the wing would begin its charity efforts by assisting several former exco members who are currently facing health challenges.
Martin also conveyed PBB Youth’s congratulations to Abang Johari on receiving Japan’s prestigious Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star from Emperor Naruhito.
He described the honour as global recognition of Sarawak’s development direction, administrative capability and stable, progressive policies.
“The award is not only a personal recognition for the Premier, but also a mark of respect for Sarawak’s achievements on the international stage,” he said, adding that the Premier’s visionary leadership had driven major transformations in digitalisation, the green economy, renewable energy, rural development, education and expanding economic opportunities.
“We are now the envy of Malaysia, if not the region,” he said.
