MIRI: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Miri District carried out a community outreach programme at Bandar Baru Permyjaya recently, providing food assistance and public health awareness to families in need as part of its ongoing humanitarian work.
The programme, organised through the MRCS Community Care and Protection Committee, began with the mobilisation of volunteers from the MRCS Miri District headquarters before the team proceeded to the residential area.
As part of the outreach, food baskets containing basic household necessities were distributed to selected families to help ease daily living pressures.
The programme also featured a public awareness session focusing on health, hygiene and social responsibility, aimed at encouraging healthier practices and stronger community awareness.
MRCS Miri District acknowledged the contribution of Malaysian Red Crescent Volunteer Aid Detachment members, who provided cash donations and welfare items to support the initiative.
The organisation said the additional assistance strengthened the overall impact of the programme and reinforced its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities in Miri.
The outreach initiative forms part of MRCS Miri District’s broader efforts to strengthen community engagement, promote social well-being and maintain close working relationships with local residents through direct, on-the-ground assistance.
