KUCHING: Yayasan Sime Darby’s support is set to boost the quality and professionalism of One-Stop Early Intervention Centre (OSEIC) Sarawak’s staff, especially frontline personnel delivering early intervention services for children with special needs.
Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, said the support enabled OSEIC Sarawak to strengthen training, raise professional standards and improve the overall quality of care and services provided.
“The support from Yayasan Sime Darby is highly meaningful in reinforcing OSEIC Sarawak’s efforts to enhance the professionalism and quality of our team, especially the frontline staff directly involved in early intervention services,” she said.
She said this at the launching ceremony of the Yayasan Sime Darby & PIBAKAT collaboration for OSEIC Sarawak here on Thursday.
She added that the implementation of training programmes through strategic cooperation with AiTT would serve as an important catalyst in building the capacity of OSEIC Sarawak’s team, ensuring that early intervention services delivered were more impactful, consistently high in quality and prepared to meet future needs.
“This strategic cooperation with AiTT will be an important catalyst in building our team’s capacity so that early intervention services can be implemented more systematically, with greater impact, and with readiness for future needs,” she said.
Through this initiative, a total of 30 OSEIC Sarawak staff members will undergo intensive training, in addition to the development of internal trainers to support the establishment of new centres in the future.
This initiative is also expected to strengthen workforce readiness to ensure the delivery of high-quality services throughout Sarawak.
Fatimah also said that OSEIC Sarawak aspired to support its staff in pursuing Diploma and Degree studies in Early Childhood Education and Care for Children with Special Needs, through collaboration with local higher learning institutions to develop long-term expertise.
Meanwhile, she expressed her highest appreciation to Yayasan Sime Darby, particularly its chairman, Tunku Tan Sri Imran Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar, for the initial step which she described as an important foundation towards building long-term cooperation in Sarawak.
She hopes that the contributions and cooperation can continue through various other initiatives in order to enhance service excellence and bring continuous benefits to children with special needs and their families.
