KUCHING: A 69-year-old man from Kampung Sikog, Puncak Borneo, is battling multiple health issues and relies entirely on charity for daily sustenance.
Kimat Jameson Saai, who suffered a stroke in 2023, faces complications from diabetes, heart problems, kidney disease and anemia.
He now uses a wheelchair most days and a walking cane when moving short distances.
Kimat’s 74-year-old wife, Lee Kian, is his sole caregiver.
The couple has no income or savings, having previously spent their Employees Provident Fund (EPF) on building their home.
Kimat, a retired mechanic, slowly recovers from his stroke, but remains weak after more than two years.
Lee Kian expressed the difficulty of caring for her husband alone.
“I wish that we could move to an old folks’ home. It’s difficult taking care of my husband all by myself,” she said.
Hope Place continues to provide basic food aid to support them, while neighbours and relatives offer occasional help.
Members of the public who wish to assist can contact Hope Place or Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching (PKHK) at 082-505987 or 013-5672775.
Donations can be made directly to Maybank account 511289001160 or via Sarawak Pay / SPAY GLOBAL QR code on the organisation’s Facebook page.
