BAU: Public trust and frontline accountability took centre stage as Bau police leadership laid down clear expectations for officers, warning that any lapse in integrity, especially at the public-facing counters, will not be tolerated.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said officers are duty-bound to accept and act on every report or complaint lodged by the public, without prejudice.
“Any allegation that reports were refused would be viewed seriously and dealt with accordingly.
“Confidence in the police begins at the front counter. Therefore, officers are reminded that every decision and action reflects the image of the police, and directly shapes how the public perceives the force,” he said during the district police headquarters (IPD) monthly assembly on Wednesday (Jan 21).
On district priorities, Supt Mohd Haide said Bau police will maintain sustained pressure on crime prevention, with particular attention on property-related offences, especially vehicle thefts, which have shown a concerning trend locally and across the southern zone.
“Integrated operations, including border-focused efforts and roadblocks at strategic routes, will continue to be intensified to deter crime, enable early detection and ensure swift enforcement.
“At the same time, the fight against drug abuse and the disruption of illicit supply chains into the district will remain aggressive and intelligence-driven, with targeted operations aimed at cutting off distribution networks and reducing the threat posed to community safety.”
Scam-related crimes, which have been on the rise, will also remain a key concern, with police stepping up public awareness through advocacy, information dissemination and closer engagement with local communities.
He stated that focused operations against illegal street activities and persistent traffic law violations will be carried out consistently and systematically.
