MUKAH: A labourer was arrested for allegedly possessing methamphetamine during a roadside stop along Jalan Mukah–Selangau on Tuesday (Jan 27).
Acting on information, the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) detained the 28-year-old man for inspections at around 12.50pm.
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said checks on his waist bag led to the discovery of six straw tubes containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine.
The drugs weighed around 1.70g and has a street value of about RM295.
Both the suspect and seized drugs were taken to the district police headquarters (IPD) for further action, where a urine screening test found him positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

He has been remanded for two days until Jan 30 to facilitate investigations under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Rizal assured that police remain committed to combating drug abuse in the district and urged the public to report any information on drug-related activities to Mukah IPD’s hotline at 084-871222 or the nearest police station.
