SELANGAU: A total of 55 upper primary pupils from seven schools in Selangau District participated in the two-day Program Intelek Asuhan Rohani (PINTAR 2.0) camp aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of drug abuse.
Organised by the Sibu District National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), the programme was held in collaboration with SK Sungai Bawang and the Selangau District Education Office.
The camp, which concluded at SK Sungai Bawang on Saturday (Aug 8), brought together pupils from schools within Zone 4 of Selangau District.
The participating schools were SK Sungai Bawang, SK Sungai Kemena, SK Sungai Tau, SK Bukit Arip, SK Ulu Sungai Arip, SK Kuala Pelugau and SK Iban Union.
The programme sought to educate pupils about the dangers of drug abuse from an early age while strengthening their resilience and ability to firmly reject negative social influences.
Throughout the camp, participants took part in interactive modules, including group training sessions, an anti-drug exhibition, awareness video screenings, interactive games and exploratory activities.
The pupils also recited the Ikrar Anak Pintar, or Smart Child Pledge, as part of the programme.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Selangau District Education Office representative Jeremaiah Linggi Meruda.
Also present were Sibu District AADK chief representative Mohamad Farizal Mohamad Buang, SK Kuala Pelugau headmaster Nyelang Papu, SK Sungai Bawang senior assistant for administration Joannes Lia Kunya and senior assistant for student affairs Mustahid Abdul Karim.
