LAWAS: The Magistrates’ Court here today allowed an application by the Sarawak Enforcement and Security Unit (UKPS) for the forfeiture and disposal of 35 units of subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders after no party came forward to claim them.
Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus granted the application filed by UKPS officers Ahmad Azroy Shafiq and Paddril Peter pursuant to Section 23A of the Distribution of Gas Ordinance 2016 (Chapter 72) and Section 407A of the Criminal Procedure Code (Act 593).
In supporting their application, Deputy Public Prosecutor Ronald Felix Hardin told the court that a total of 35 units or cylinders of the subsidised liquified petroleum gas (LPG) were seized by the authorised officers from both UKPS and the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication in several operations conducted in November 2025.
The cylinders were seized after licence permit for the distribution and retail of MyGaz’s subsidised LPG in Sarawak has not been renewed since end of 2023.
As no one has came forward to claim the seized items after the lapse of the stipulated prescribed time, they were then handed over for further actions to be taken under the Distribution of Gas Ordinance 2016 (Chapter 72).
