MIRI: Police arrested a man suspected of stealing from a building in the Jalan Permaisuri area, following an operation on Sunday evening.
The suspect was detained at about 5.50pm at Tepi Jalan Cina by officers from the Miri Central Police Station, led by the station chief ASP Goldy Jangan.
Investigators also seized clothing believed to have been worn during the theft, which will be examined as part of the inquiry.
The man is being held at the Miri Central Police Station lock-up and is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term for theft committed inside a building.
Police have urged the public to respect the law and the property of others, and to report any suspicious activity to help curb crime in the district.
