KUCHING: The inaugural season of the Sarawak Premier League has drawn professional-level observation, highlighting its role as a platform for player exposure.
Sarawak Football Association president Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said he had been informed that Aidil Sharin Sahak, head coach of Kuching City FC, had identified several players with potential.
He stressed that the process remains at an early stage, adding that no decisions have been made and that the focus of the cup’s first season is on education, participation, and exposure rather than immediate outcomes.
“This is still our first year, and the focus is on giving players exposure through the league,” he told a press conference at his constituency’s service centre today (Feb 10).
Fazzrudin said the Sarawak Premier League was structured to provide opportunities for players from across the state, with further improvements expected as the competition develops over the coming seasons.
The league concludes its inaugural campaign this weekend with the Premier Cup final, marking the end of its first season.
Throughout the tournament, senior players from Bintulu and Limbang, including Jimmy Raymond and Alif Hassan, provided support by attending matches and observing play.
