KUCHING: Sarawak’s greatest strength lies in its unity in diversity which must continue to be preserved and strengthened.
In his Chinese New Year message, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said festive seasons such as this reflect the true spirit of Sarawak, where open house events, mutual respect and genuine friendship across communities remain a cherished tradition.
“This unity is the foundation of our stability and continued growth,” he said, extending warm greetings and “Gong Xi Fa Cai” to all Malaysians, especially the Chinese community in the state celebrating the occasion.
Describing Chinese New Year as a time of reunion, gratitude and hope, Awang Tengah said it is a meaningful period for families to come together, reflect on the past year, and look forward to new beginnings with optimism and determination.
Welcoming the Year of the Horse, he noted that the zodiac symbolises strength, endurance and forward momentum.
“The horse represents energy, resilience and the courage to pursue progress. May these qualities inspire all of us to work harder, think boldly and move confidently toward greater achievements for ourselves, our families and our beloved state of Sarawak,” he said.
Awang Tengah also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to sustainable development, expanding economic opportunities, and enhancing social well-being for all Sarawakians.
As Sarawak ushers in the new year, Awang Tengah called on the people to renew their spirit and commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive and prosperous state.
“Together, through cooperation and a shared vision, we can overcome challenges and create a brighter future for the next generation.
“I would like to wish those celebrating a Happy Chinese New Year filled with good health, happiness and continued success. I hope that the year ahead would bring renewed strength, hope and unity to the people of Sarawak,” he said.
