BETONG: Detection dog Bella was deployed to assist in the second day of search efforts for a 20-year-old man feared drowned in Ulu Sungai Skrang today (Feb 19).

The victim has been identified as Denickles Lesen.

He was reported missing after the speedboat he was testing allegedly capsized along Sungai Skrang in Kampung Tisak Ulu at about 3.51pm on Wednesday (Feb 18).

A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the search and rescue (SAR) operations resumed this morning after being suspended at 7.15 pm yesterday due to darkness and safety concerns.

Six members of the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) conducted a surface search within a two-kilometre radius using a rescue boat before expanding the search area to four kilometres downstream towards Batang Skrang as water levels receded.

Personnel from Bomba, PDRM, APM, RELA and villagers using five boats were involved in the operations.

As of press time, the victim had yet to be found.
