SERIAN: The Serian Community Park will be upgraded through a RM3 million project under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA).

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus said the redevelopment would adopt an open and flexible concept, allowing the area to be used for multiple purposes, including parking, Ramadan bazaars, concerts and large-scale community activities.

He said the upgrading project is currently at the consultant appointment stage and pending tender documentation before physical works can begin.

“Hopefully by next year, this place will have a new look,” he said.

He was officiating at the Serian District Council Ramadan bazaar, which has begun operating for the fasting month.

A total of 69 stalls are participating this year, offering a variety of dishes for breaking fast while providing local traders with an opportunity to generate additional income.

During the event, John also presented aprons to traders as a gesture of support and encouragement.

“We hope the traders will earn good income, and that the public, especially local residents, will continue to support this initiative to enliven the Ramadan atmosphere in Serian,” he added.
