DALAT: The Kaul Oya site reopened to the public today (Feb 20) after safety assessments by relevant agencies.
The Dalat District Disaster Management Committee said the decision was made after considering safety evaluation reports and technical advice.
The site had been closed on Jan 21 after methane gas was detected in the area, prompting immediate action to safeguard public safety, particularly nearby residents.
The committee advised members of the public to remain cautious and prioritise safety while at the site, adding that periodic monitoring would continue to ensure the area remains safe and under control.
