SERIAN: A local man was arrested for allegedly conducting online gambling activities during a police operation here on Friday (Feb 20).
Serian police chief Supt Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian said the arrest was made at about 3.45 pm following an inspection carried out by a team from the district Criminal Investigation Division.
He said the suspect was checked at a premises in the district and was believed to be involved in online gambling activities.
“The suspect was detained and items related to the case were seized to assist in further investigations,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
Freddy urged members of the public with information on illegal gambling activities in the district to contact IPD Serian at 082-874442 or the nearest police station.
