TATAU: The completion of key Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects in Kakus marks a significant boost to rural connectivity, safety and economic activities for residents in the area.
Minister in the Premier’s Department, Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai, who is also Kakus state assemblyman, said the projects underscore the Sarawak Government’s continued resolve to close the rural-urban development gap through impactful and well-monitored initiatives.
He said the development efforts go beyond the provision of basic infrastructure, as they are strategically implemented to improve safety standards, enhance daily mobility and support the economic sustainability of rural communities.

“These projects are not just physical facilities; they are critical in enhancing safety standards and facilitating the daily movement of residents for economic activities and access to essential services,” he said.
He said this during an official working visit on Saturday, during which he inspected the fully completed repair works of the Nanga Sidang Bridge.
He described the bridge as a vital link that will ease transportation challenges and improve access for surrounding longhouses.
Sikie added that continuous monitoring would be carried out to ensure all RTP projects are delivered according to schedule without compromising quality and implementation standards.
