SRI AMAN: The people of Bumi Kenyalang have been urged to continue promoting positive news about Sarawak to strengthen the state’s image, thereby boosting the confidence of investors, tourists, and outsiders in the state’s vast potential.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said that in the era of social media and digital communication, the public plays an important role as ambassadors of the state in shaping external perceptions of Sarawak, particularly among communities in Peninsular Malaysia.
According to him, sharing information about infrastructure development, financial assistance, cultural diversity, and free education initiatives implemented by the Sarawak Government can have a direct impact on the people.
“On the other hand, we should not deliberately spread negative issues about the state to people in the peninsula, as this can create a poor perception of Sarawak.
“Love this state by only sharing positive matters. When the state’s image is strong, the benefits will return to the people in the form of faster development and broader opportunities,” he said during the Sarawak United People’s Party ‘s (SUPP) Simanggang Branch Chinese New Year Open House 2026 held at the Sri Aman Mini Stadium today (Feb 21).
Meanwhile, he also called on the people to continue standing firmly behind the Sarawak Government to ensure the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) is fully realised.
He explained that successful implementation of the strategy would not only position Sarawak as a developed state by 2030, but also ensure the people enjoy better basic facilities, inclusive access to education including free tertiary education, as well as new economic opportunities in high-technology and green energy sectors.
“There will certainly be parties who attempt to derail these efforts. Therefore, I hope the people will consider the positive impact that future generations will enjoy if Sarawak achieves developed-state status, without getting involved in actions that could jeopardise the state’s stability and progress,” he said.
