KUCHING: Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy Bhd and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki visited the temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Masjid Darul Istiqlal, Kampung Sungai Maong, on Saturday (Feb 21) to check on flood victims’ welfare.
The visit was held to meet and assist 65 victims from 18 families affected by floods that struck the area on Friday night.
During the visit, Ibrahim, who is also Satok state assemblyman, spent time interacting with the victims and presented contributions to heads of families as a sign of support and solidarity for those facing the disaster.
He also inspected the condition of the PPS facilities and obtained the latest updates from the management and relevant agencies to ensure the victims’ welfare and basic needs remain sufficient and well managed.
According to him, the safety and well-being of residents remain a top priority, and his office will continue working closely with all relevant agencies to ensure assistance is delivered effectively throughout the evacuation period.
At the same time, he advised residents to remain vigilant and comply with instructions from the authorities to avoid any risks that could endanger themselves and their families.
