SAMARAHAN: Continuous development efforts are being carried out in Kampung Gumpey, Gedong, to strengthen community well-being and public amenities.
Batang Sadong Member of Parliament, Rodiyah Sapiee said among the initiatives is a RM100,000 community hall upgrading project, which is currently awaiting final inspection.
In addition, a RM14,000 canopy has been supplied to Masjid Darul Iman, while the upgrading of the Muslim cemetery jetty costing RM50,000 has been completed.
To enhance village safety, 20 solar-powered street lights have also been installed through a local authority allocation of RM300,000.
Under the ‘Santuni Rakyat, Mengimarahkan Ramadan’ programme, Rodiyah channelled RM84,000 in annual funds to support mosques, suraus and madrasahs in Gedong.
The programme also saw the distribution of food baskets and cash assistance to 20 recipients.
For the record, the construction of a new mosque worth RM4.23 million under state funds through the Sarawak Islamic Affairs Department (JAIS), implemented by the Public Works Department (PWD) was fully completed on January 29.
These initiatives reflect the ongoing commitment to improve infrastructure and social welfare in the constituency, ensuring residents enjoy better facilities and support for community development.
