BETONG: Police arrested two men during Ops Tapis Khas here on Thursday (Feb 26) for suspected drug possession.
Betong police chief DSP Wan Mohamad Ali Wan Malek said the suspects, aged 29 and 37, were detained at about 12.30pm by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division.
He said the suspects were believed to be in possession of drugs and were taken to IPD Betong for further investigation.
“Urine screening tests conducted on both men returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.
Background checks found that neither suspect had any prior criminal or drug-related record.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Wan Mohamad Ali said police viewed drug offences seriously and urged members of the public to channel information on drug-related activities to Betong police at 083-472345.
