KUCHING: AirBorneo has partnered with MyDigital ID to integrate national digital identity verification into its travel platform to enhance passenger security and convenience.
The collaboration was formalised during the MyDigital ID Forum and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ceremony in Putrajaya recently, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Through the integration, passengers will be able to access AirBorneo’s booking platform and mobile application using Single Sign-On (SSO), enabling secure one-click login without the need for multiple passwords.
The airline said the system will also allow real-time electronic identity verification during booking and check-in, helping reduce fraud risks and streamline compliance requirements for both regional and international travel.
It added that the consent-based verification framework supports a privacy-first approach aligned with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act and international aviation security standards.
AirBorneo chief executive officer Megat Ardian Wira described the partnership as part of the airline’s broader digital transformation strategy.
“At AirBorneo, we are not just flying aircraft; we are building the digital bridges of tomorrow. Our collaboration with MyDigital ID reflects our commitment to placing passenger convenience and security at the centre of our operations,” he said in a statement.
He added that adopting a trusted national digital identity system would help future-proof airline operations while improving the overall travel experience.
The initiative forms part of AirBorneo’s “Wings of Unity” vision aimed at strengthening connectivity across Borneo and neighbouring regions through digital innovation.
The integration also supports the airline’s planned regional jet expansion scheduled for July 2026, which includes proposed direct routes from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Singapore and Jakarta.
AirBorneo said the ability to provide trusted identity assurance will play an important role in meeting international travel requirements as it expands its regional network.
More than 300 industry leaders and government officials attended the MyDigital ID Forum, which highlighted cross-sector collaboration in strengthening Malaysia’s digital identity ecosystem.
